Two New Jury Members for the film design competition and THE EYE PRIZE with Alphapanda

We are proud to announce that THE EYE PRIZE, to be awarded to the best design in our competition, has the monetary value of 3.000€ and it’s sponsored by our partner Alphapanda. Alphapanda is a European boutique social media agency for the film industry based in Berlin and with team members in Warsaw and Geneva. The agency was founded in 2011 by Mathias Noschis, and their expertise covers all areas of marketing and promotion, including strategy, social media campaigns, advertising, research and outreach. Believing in the power of digital technologies to promote films in a creative and effective way, Alphapanda works across fiction and documentaries and is very proud to work for bigger and smaller players of the film industry.


We would like to remind you that the OPEN CALL for the Film Design Competition is still open, and the deadline has been prolonged until June 10th!

The DFFB film ALTRI CANNIBALI, by Francesco Sossai was selected as the working film for this call for designers, and we are inviting all students, professionals, independent or employees that work for the public or private sector to submit their vision of this film’s poster and animated visuals. Age or nationality will not be taken into consideration. The freshly-announced jury will consider and discuss all entries. The best design will be used on the international marketing campaign of this film and will be awarded THE EYE PRIZE, with the monetary value of 3.000€.


We are also delighted to announce two more members of the Film & Design Competition Jury! Joining the previously announced Adrian Curry, we welcome Karine Savard and Gordon Spragg. Together, they will consider and discuss all the entries in the competition with the goal of finding the winning design.

Montreal-based artist Karine Savard has been designing film posters since 2006. Her poster work was awarded Best poster Award in Karlovy Vary Films Festival, Illustration Annual Award – Communication Arts in California, Lux Award in Montreal. More in

Gordon Spragg graduated from Kingston University in the UK in 1994 with degrees in Fine Art. Moving to France in 2001 he joined international sales agent and producer Celluloid Dreams as their Head of Marketing and Publicity and helped shape the international profile and launch of hundreds of films and filmmakers. With his background in art and design coupled with his knowledge and experience of the international film business he launched his own marketing and publicity company WOLF Consultants in 2010 with partners Laurin Dietrich and Michael Arnon. How To Target The Eye is the first European summit primarily focusing on film visual communication, aiming to discuss the state of the art of film graphics in the real world, the ‘digisphere’ and in between. The 2021 inaugural edition invites leading designers and industry professionals from all over the world to talk about their work and discuss the role of film design. The two-day-programme will take place on June 18th and 19th, 2021. Various panels and talks explore past, present and future of film communication, including a special tribute to the memory of Hans Hillmann’s groundbreaking design work and a Film Design Competition.

The programme will be online and for free, upon registration, which will be available soon.
